EDINBURGH DOG AND CAT HOME. CAN I MAKE YOU WANT ME?
Can I Make You Want Me- is a photographic project which focuses on the forgotten pets who have spent long periods of time in Edinburgh Dog and Cat home. Shoot for a 48 sheet poster campaign, annul reports and branding collateral. Janeanne Gilchrist's strikingly intimate portraits of these animals - thought to be the 'least likely to be adopted' - capture their differing personalities and complex emotions. Shot in the aesthetic of old master portrait paintings, these stunning images are laden with visual drama. Gilchrist's unique approach creates powerful and compelling shots which, it is hoped, will lead to these forgotten animals being adopted. The images also highlight the disturbing realities of man's imposition of his will on the animal world: the clipped ears of the Staffordshire bull terrier are surgically altered for aesthetic reasons; the shaved body and missing leg of the collie is an example of the cruelty inflicted upon him.
