BORDERS RAILWAY TRAIN CARRIAGE LIVERY DESIGN
The Borders Railway, Train carriage livery design. The commission was to create a custom artwork that would communicate to all and rail travellers the key attributes of each of the three council areas that the newly built Borders Railway was passing through - the attraction, the appeal, the coming together and the increased connectivity and accessibility. To promote the Borders Railway as a key transportation option, the ease and frequency of travel and to encourage visitor flow between each of the three Council areas. The outcome resulted in an awe inspiring imaginative piece of illustration essentially creating artwork on wheels designed to catch the eye of train-loving kids and rail enthusiasts, featuring illustrations of Edinburgh Zoo’s beloved pandas, Midlothian’s famous historic Rosslyn Chapel and stunning scenery from the Scottish Borders, to inspire the public to use the rail travel to the newly connected locations. We created an impactful distinctive yet flexible design for a range of marketing materials that resonated. The striking visual identity has been used in printed and digital collateral, including brochures, posters, experiential campaigns, transport stock on rail and road, trade stands and websites.
